Make your own Advent Calendar

Advent Calendars
The countdown to Christmas is on! One of the best parts about the lead up to Christmas is opening a new door on the advent calendar each day. If you want something a bit more exciting than the usual chocolate advent calendar why not make your own? We’ve got some ideas to get your imagination going!

Christmas tree calendar: You don’t need anything fancy to make your own calendar. Draw a Christmas tree or print out a picture of one and glue it onto on a large piece of white cardboard. Put all your treats into small red and white paper bags and attach them to the branches of your tree with push pins. Number the bags from 1 to 25 and open them one day at a time. You can use whatever treats you want – anything from chocolate and candy to jewellery, accessories or other small presents.

Picture frame calendar: Find a medium to large sized picture frame without glass and insert some white cardboard where the photo would normally go. Attached 25 small brown paper envelopes in rows and seal them with your Christmas treats inside. You can brighten up the calendar by adding drawings, stickers, ribbons or coloured tape to the front of each envelope.

Blackboard calendar: If you have a big blackboard or blackboard wall you can simply draw on a December calendar and cross out the days. Keep treats in a bowl or hamper below the board and take one each day, like a lucky dip!
