How to Decorate with Festive Florals

Merry Christmas Wreath - How to decorate with festive florals

The use of nature in Christmas decoration is timeless, and continues to pop-up in modern festive decor trends. We absolutely love bringing some of the outdoors in, but it can often be hard to source traditional Christmas-style foliage such as holly, mistletoe and pines – which is why it’s great to mix some natural items from your florist with reusable items such as garlands and sprays, flowers and picks

Decorate your tree diagonally with picks as an alternative to tinsel

Why not have your tree emulate a beautiful and exciting fireworks display by using glitter-coated flower and beaded sprays as an alternative to tinsel? Simply place the sprays in diagonal lines across the front of the tree, as tinsel would drape across it.

Create a tree entirely out of florals

If you’re obsessed with Christmas florals, you may not even wish to have the tree at all! The simplest way to make a floral Christmas tree, is to create a wall-mounted artwork. Find a large, vintage frame and spray it with a fresh coat of paint to suit your decor. Cut a piece of canvas or calico slightly larger than this. Draw an outline of a Christmas tree shape on this. Then using an assortment of festive florals, stitch them in place, going just over the edges of the outline. Hang and, voila, either use as a Christmas artwork, or place your presents under and around it as an alternative to a Christmas tree!

Create a magical candle-floral Christmas dining table centrepiece

The glint of candle light reflecting off glittery festive florals and reflecting their bright colours sets the perfect mood for a magical Christmas dinner. So, why not create a centrepiece by intertwining candles and florals in accordance with your decor theme. Check out some great ideas here, or pick up a ready-to-go centrepiece here

DIY Christmas Wreath

Using a simple wreath as your basis, find an assortment of florals and picks in colours that suit your indoor decor themes. Simply weave them around the wreath and hang!

Make statement arrangements in gift boxes instead of vases

To create a Christmas touch all over the home, replace your regular vases with square and circular medium or large sized gift boxes  in colours that suit your Christmas decor theme. Fill with oasis foam blocks, and then it’s time to get arranging. You may wish to buy fresh from your florist, though this will require updating every week or two. Otherwise, create a glittering floral arrangement using an assortment of florals, sprays and picks. Or, why not use both?

Use pine cones and berries instead of flowers
