Christmas Decorating Hacks

Christmas Decorating Idea - Woman holding gift wrappers Set

Christmas can be a very hectic time, even without spending hours untangling old Christmas lights. Simplify your festive season and enjoy this wonderful time of the year with these Christmas decorating hacks, tips and shortcuts.

  1. Hanging Christmas Cards
Get creative when displaying your Christmas cards by hanging them from the branches of a wire Christmas tree with pegs or from a garland hung over the railing of your staircase.
  1. Storing Christmas Lights
Tired of untangling your Christmas lights every year? Try storing them by wrapping them around some coat hangers, or cardboard cut to fit inside your storage box to save time every year.
  1. Bauble Storage
Protect your precious personalised glass baubles when you pack them away this year by storing them in plastic cups or small baubles in egg cartons to keep them from breaking as well as organise your ornaments.
  1. Wrapping Paper Storage
Use a garment bag to store and hang up your wrapping paper instead of letting them roll around in your closet.
  1. Personalise Clear Craft Baubles
Want to add a personal touch to your ornaments to match your decorating theme? Decorate some clear craft baubles by stuffing them with memorable keepsakes, twine or tinsel or gluing ribbon and sequins around the outside.
  1. Make your Christmas Tree look fuller
Is your Christmas tree looking a bit worn out? Use green tinsel to make your Christmas tree fuller by wrapping it around the inner branches to fill out the tree.
  1. Decorate Leftover Ornaments
If you have worn out baubles or other Christmas ornaments that don’t match your colour scheme, try spray-painting them to freshen them up and use them as your table centrepiece. We have tried this with old décor pieces we found around the house – check out our Christmas decorating article to see how.
