DIY Christmas Trees

DIY Trees

Christmas trees are one of the most traditional symbols of the festive season, but have you ever tried creating your own? Whether it’s to save space, money or time, or just for a little fun, DIY Christmas trees are a great idea. From the simple to the more challenging we’ve found some great designs to get you inspired!

If you don’t have much space or want to keep things as simple as possible, make yourself a 2D Christmas tree! These work on any plain surface, such as clear walls or a large piece of cardboard. It can be as easy as drawing a tree onto your surface, then cutting out pieces of colourful tape and sticking them over the top of the design.

You can also grab a few nails and fix them to your wall or a piece of plywood and twist some string around them to make a simple minimalist tree that you can still hang ornaments off!

You can also build your own Christmas tree out of household items. If you’re a big reader you can pile your books into a pyramid and place a star on top for a literary tree that’s sure to be a talking point for guests. Old or unused ladders or garden cages also make great Christmas trees. All you have to do is stand one up in your chosen room and string it with lights!

For something a bit craftier you can create a delicate tree out of paper doilies. Cut a small slit in the paper from the outside to the centre of the circle, then roll into a cone and glue down. Do this with three doilies and thread them onto a think piece of dowel. Keep the doilies sitting upright by attaching a small wooden ball underneath each one and gluing in place.
