Reindeer Cushion Covers
This is a great gift for kids to make for family and friends. Not only is it easy to make, it’s also fun and unique, and sure to be brought out again year after year. All you need is a white cushion cover or pillow case, some light brown paint, craft eyes and festive ribbon. Lay down some paper and allow your kids to coat one of their feet in the paint. Then get them to step on the cushion cover, leaving a footprint. Do the same with their hands, leaving their hand prints either side of the toe prints. Let the paint dry, then stick two eyes on the widest part of the footprint. Draw on a nose with red marker or paint and glue the ribbon to the bottom of the footprint in a bow.
Moisturizing Hand Scrub
This scrub is great for cleaning hands after cooking or doing the washing up, as it moisturizes and removes strong scents like garlic and onion. Combine one and a half cups of sugar, one third of a cup of coarse salt, one cup of olive oil and the zest of a large lemon in a bowl and mix well. If you would like a stronger scent, add a quarter of a teaspoon of lemon extract. Spoon into a glass jar and tightly fasten the lid. Wipe any spills from the outside of the jar and tie with a ribbon.
Lip Balm
Help your friends keep their lips smooth with some homemade lip balm. Simply melt 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, one tablespoon of beeswax, and one tablespoon of shea butter in a glass jar sitting in a saucepan of gently simmering water, stirring until smooth and fully melted. Remove the jar from the water and carefully stir through two to four drops of peppermint oil. Spoon into small tins and allow to cool before sealing the lid.
