Decorating with Christmas Garlands

Spruce up your home this holiday season by decorating with garlands! From garlands created with traditional greenery to more modern paper designs, these stunning displays are sure to create an extra splash of excitement throughout your house and garden.

One of the most common uses for garlands is to drape them around any star bannisters you have in your home. Traditional greenery garlands are great for this, as they’re hardy enough to withstand the wear and tear that will probably occur from people grabbing onto the bannister as they travel up and down the staircase. They’re also perfect for the outdoors! Brighten up the steps to your front door by wrapping the bannister green garlands and white Christmas lights.

Decorating the mantelpiece is another classic use of garlands! If you have a colour theme for your home this season, use a garland of coloured ribbon or tinsel to tie into the rest of your decorations. For those without a mantle, never fear! Carefully position garlands around the tops of your doorframes, using clear or neutral-coloured tacks to hold the garland in place.

Decorating with GarlandsIf you’re feeling crafty, why not make your own garlands? Simple garlands are easy to make and can be just as beautiful as more elaborate ones. You can create a lovely DIY garland just with a length of twine and some Christmas decorations. Simply cut the twine to your desired length and use some cute craft pegs to keep the decorations in place.

If you’re planning on taking advantage of the warm summer weather and spend some of your festive season outside, why not use garlands to decorate the garden? Garlands can be wrapped around gazebos, marquees or arbours to add some Christmas cheer to your outdoor gatherings. Add some outdoor lights to your displays and impress your guests as the sun goes down.
