Creative Uses For Christmas Fairy Lights

Christmas-Star-Fairy-LightsNothing adds a bit of sparkle like decorating your house with fairy lights! Wrapping them around your tree or stringing them around the outside of your house are great ways to use them, but we’ve got a few less traditional ways of adding fairy lights into your Christmas décor this year.

Take your hanging decorations to the next level by throwing Christmas lights into the mix.  Hanging short strings of lights from the ceiling or along the top of the walls in your hallway adds a magical feel and gives you the chance to add decorations to a part of your home that might otherwise go unused.

If you’re feeling especially crafty you can try creating your own fairy light chandelier. All you need is a hula hoop, some short strings of fairy lights (light up icicles are perfect), some lace or ribbon and a hot glue gun. Attach the lights to the hula hoop securely with the glue gun, then wrap the ribbon around the hula hoop until none of the plastic can be seen. Glue the ends of the ribbon with the glue gun and hang your new chandelier using fishing line or left over lengths of ribbon.

Another easy way to light up some of the smaller, hard to reach corners of your home is to pile fairy lights and baubles into small containers – think baskets, wooden boxes or even glass serving bowls. These easy decorations are perfect for places like your kitchen or bathroom, and can easily be positioned near power points if you have plug-in lights.

For outdoor decorating, wind decorative lights around furniture settings, unused ladders and gardening tools or along the top of your washing line to create an outdoor wonderland. You can also place lengths of lights inside glass jars or lanterns and line them up along your garden path and outside your door to make your home festive and welcoming.
