Just as the name suggests, our Christmas Royale Theme is all about regality and sophistication – which never goes out of fashion!
With a mix of rich burgundy tones, luxurious embroidered textiles, and antique style metallics, this theme best suits stately and traditional home decor styles.
- Rich deep burgundy textiles. Burgundy forms the foundation of this regal theme, and one of the most effective ways of exemplifying it is through the use of luxurious textiles. Think damask embroidery and soft tassels when choosing your table runners and stockings, to really make those details glamorous.
- Complement with red and purple. While burgundy is the dominant colour in this Christmas decorating theme, it’s always a good idea to throw in a few additional hues. This is because not every item you find will be available in the exact colour you wish – hence it’s good to have created a colour spectrum for your Christmas decor. Purple and red are traditionally very regal colours, representing wealth and nobility – and they’re very close to burgundy.
- Go OTT with your ornaments. More contemporary decor styles tend to call for simplicity and understatement in their use of decorations, but if you like embellishments, Christmas Royale is the theme for you. Fill the Christmas tree with red baubles and deluxe feature ornaments in teardrop and finial shapes – we especially love the medium ribbed style. In keeping with the traditional, royal character of this theme, look past bright, shiny gold metallics for more weathered, antique looking golds and bronzes.
- What’s old is new again: repurposed frames. Antique frames are abundant and cheap at second hand stores, and are an innovative and chic way to bring old world charm into your Christmas decor. You may wish to coat your found frames in lacquer or spray paint with gold. Then, get creative with your frame contents – think Santa photos, prints from our free online downloads, or hanging a full, luscious Christmas wreath inside the frame.
- Lush, jewelled florals. When we think of Christmas Royale, we think of sparkling jewelled poinsettias and glinting red florals and sprays. We like to use a combination of small, medium and large, attached to the Christmas tree as a decoration. Using these florals, mixed in with natural green leaves, as the focal point of your Christmas table centrepiece is a must too!
