How to Create: Merry Little Christmas

Using a simple colour palette of white and gold against the contrast of green Christmas florals, the Merry Little Christmas decor theme is crisp, elegant and timeless. The simplicity of the colour palette allows the theme to be incredibly flexible, as you can choose whether to err towards more modern, or traditional and rustic style decorations.

Take a look at our special deal for this week, the Merry Little Christmas Bauble Pack, to help kickstart this beautiful theme in your own home!

  1. Gild it. Highlights of gold are an integral part of the Merry Little Christmas decor theme. Too much gold can be a bit garish, so choose your larger base pieces in tones of white, cream and ivory, complementing this with flourishes of gold all throughout the home. For example, with your textiles, a cream linen is great for the basis of your dining table and sofa, but balance this with a few gold statement pillows and ribbons.
  2. Glitter, glitter, glitter! As whites and creams are the foundational colours of this theme, it’s important to balance this with injections of gold glitter throughout your decor. Glitter-coated baubles (LINK) are an obvious addition for the tree here, but think about throughout the house. Personalised plaques and sequined textiles are a simple way to add that extra sparkle in your home.
  3. Wrap it in ribbon. Bows and ribbons aren’t just good for gift wrapping – think of areas in your home where this would spice up the decor such as on the tree, wreath, bannisters and as napkin holders. Use a mixture of organza and silk ribbons for a touch of glamour – and have a look at these beautifully subtle, warming fairy lights in gold ribbon as a luxurious alternative for the tree.
  4. Porcelain pieces. In keeping with the timelessness of the Merry Little Christmas theme, include ivory-coloured porcelain items into your decor. We love these classic snowflakes Christmas tree ornaments, and these absolutely darling deer as a Christmas dining table centrepiece or mantel decoration.
  5. Be inspired by nature. The natural dark woody tones or pinecone and acorns are the perfect contrast to bring some earthy tones to the luxurious combination of white, gold, glitter and porcelain in this theme. Incorporate pine cones in your centrepiece and to decorate your Christmas wreath, and integrate with your Christmas tree with these beautiful pinecone and acorn decorations.
