Christmas Décor 2015

Christmas DecorInvigorate your home this festive season by trying out some fresh new décor ideas! We’ve put together some creative tips, tricks and trends to help make all areas of your home merry and bright for Christmas.

Most Christmas decorating tends to focus on what we think of traditional seasonal colours – red, green and white being the most common. One way to shake up your décor this year is to add a splash of more unusual colour to your Christmas décor. Imagine wrapping rows of striking blue-toned fairy lights around your window panes, or populating the branches of your Christmas tree with warm, welcoming pink and champagne-coloured baubles. You can go all-out or simply add a few statement pieces to your current collection of decorations.

Did you know that in Northern European countries, many Christmas decorations take inspiration from nature, using wood, textured fabric and natural elements like pine cones and acorns? Why not have a Nordic Noel this year by frosting the windows, picking out a real tree and hanging some red and white felt-lined stockings?

You could also create your own coastal Christmas without even leaving your front door. Pare back your decorations so they’re simple and take inspiration from the beach – scatter shells around the base of your Christmas tree, create a special star from drift wood, and keep the colour scheme more neutral, using dark green, silver and bronze.

A great way to liven up your Christmas décor while still sticking with tradition is to play around with the customary colours. Give your tree a peppermint twist by using red and silver tinsel and baubles, and hanging candy canes from the branches. Trim your table and chairs with tartan ribbon, and hang a wreath made with bright red mistletoe berries on your front door as an eye-catching way to greet your festive guests.
