Very Berry Christmas Decorating Theme

Very Berry ChristmasDo you have a Christmas decorating theme in mind? If you’ve been thinking of trying out something new this year, why not try taking some inspiration from nature and create a very berry Christmas in your home? We’ve found some fun decorating ideas to inspire you.

  1. Very Berry Christmas tree. If you usually wrap your tree with tinsel, try paring back this year. Drape strings of bright red plastic or porcelain berries around your tree instead. If you like a minimalist look you can leave it at that, letting the bright red berries offset the green of your tree by themselves. But if you want a bit more colour, add some silver tinsel. White Christmas lights and some red and white baubles to the tree. These will keep with the theme and won’t overwhelm the berries but will still give your tree a little more sparkle.
  2. Berry candle holders. Collect a number of clear jars (they don’t have to match) and place a white candle in the middle of each. Scatter a large handful of fake berries evenly around the base of each candle, making sure they don’t come up past the middle. If your jar is tall enough, add one or two sprigs of bright green leaves, leaning them against the side of the jar and away from the candle flame. Position your jars around the house and light them each night.
  3. Simple Centrepiece. Fill a tall vase with long-stemmed decorative branches, some plain and others featuring bunches of berries, which can be found at florists and in specialty craft shops. If your centrepiece is looking a little sparse, add a few sprigs of white flowers, like baby’s breath, to the arrangement.
  4. Holly garlands. Holly and berry garlands are a classic Christmas decorating tool. Wrap them around bannisters, hang them across the tops of doorways and windows around your home, or fashion one into a traditional wreath to hang on your front door.
  5. Gorgeous gifts. Get creative with your gift wrapping this year! If you want to hang stockings, choose ones in red, tartan and silver to match the very berry Christmas theme. For presents that will be individually wrapped and placed under the tree, forgo the usual wrapping paper and cover each present in brown paper instead, tying a tartan ribbon around each and tucking a sprig of holly and berries in when you tie the knot.
