Kids Christmas Craft - Christmas Craft Ideas for Kids

Christmas is a wonderful time to spend with your family. Christmas holidays also means finding fun things to occupy your kids while you’re busy cooking and preparing for Christmas. Get your children to help you decorate your home with these kids Christmas craft ideas.

Christmas Paper Wreath

You’ll Need

  • 2 x A4 sheets of green construction paper
  • 1 x A4 sheet of red construction paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Glue

Method

  1. Fold each A4 sheet of green construction paper in half, lengthways.
  2. Now rule a line 2cm from the open edge (as opposed to the folded edge).
  3. Then cut from the folded edge to the line, 1cm slits all along the length of each green sheet.
  4. Roll the sheet into a tunnel, join one sheet to the other with the staple (see video) and then coil the whole length around to form a circle shape. Staple the ends together.
  5. Add red ‘berries’ and a red ‘bow’ using the red construction paper.

Easy Painted Pinecones

You’ll Need

  • Pine Cone
  • White Paint/Liquid Paper (or spray paint colour of choice)
  • Paint Brush
  • Glitter (optional)

Method:

  1. Remove any dirt from the pine cone prongs with a tissue.
  2. Paint the tips of the pine cone prongs with white paint or spray paint.
  3. Add a bit of glitter to the wet paint and allow to dry.
  4. Use as a table centrepiece or Christmas Tree decoration.

 Reindeer Antlers

 You’ll Need:

  • Crepe paper in brown or grey and beige torn into little pieces and scrunched into balls. (Older kids can do this as they go)
  • Paintbrush
  • Craft glue
  • Headband
  • Ears and antlers cut from cardboard a couple of millimetres thick, it should not bend too easily but not be difficult to cut through. (Draw an ear and antler on the cardboard or copy one from the internet and cut out, leaving an extra long tab at the end where you’ll wrap it around the headband. Cut around the first piece so you have two that are equal.)
  • Stapler

Method

  1. Face out the antlers so they’re the right way up. Have your child glue the front of them.
  2. Stick the beige-coloured crepe paper on the antlers and the grey/brown on the ears. Leave to dry.
  3. Wrap the long tab of an antler around the headband and staple onto itself at the back to secure. Continue with the second side-by-side and place the ears on the outside of the antlers. You might need a couple of staples to hold in place. The tighter you make it around the headband, the better you’ll avoid the cardboard flopping this way.
  4. Place on child’s head and use face paint to draw on a red nose.
