Christmas Organisation Tips - placed in the calendar and a red gift box

Do you find yourself feeling more and more frenzied the closer we get to Christmas? While the festive season is a lot of fun, it can also get a bit frantic if you don’t get organised early. We’ve got some simple Christmas organisation tips that will make the world of difference these holidays.

Make a Christmas planner. This can be a wall calendar, a spreadsheet, or a checklist – whatever works for you. Write out everything you think you’ll need to buy, cook, and wrap, as well as parties, concerts, lunches and dinners you’ll be attending. Add them all to your timeline and colour-code so you can see at a glance what’s most urgent. And trust us, it’s never too late to start planning. Even if you only do this for the last two weeks of the Christmas season it will help keep you and your family on track!

Buy gifts as you go. Do you find yourself fighting through crowds, trying to buy all your Christmas gifts at the last minute? We’ve all been there and it’s not fun! Help keep the eleventh-hour scramble for presents to a minimum by keeping en eye out for great gifts in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Even if you have to buy some of your presents a few days before Christmas Eve, you wont feel so overwhelmed if you know you already have a pile of presents under the tree.

Decide on a menu. If you’re hosting a Christmas lunch or dinner this season be sure to know what you’ll be eating well in advance. Count the number or people you’ll be feeding, so you know the amount food necessary, then draw up a menu, including desserts and drinks. Plenty of ingredients, including the turkey, can be bought in advance and frozen – just remember to factor the defrosting into your cooking time! The fresh ingredients will need to be bought a day or two before you’re cooking, which is all the more reason to be prepared with a comprehensive list of ingredients.

Debrief. After the big day, take some time to decide what worked well for you and what didn’t, and note everything down. You can also use the post-Christmas period to d small things that will make next year a little easier, like putting your decorations away neatly and in a sensible order!
