Make Memories with Christmas Movies

3 Friends watching a Christmas Movie and Wearing a Santa Claus Hat

From the cheesy to the romantic, and the tear-jerkers; there is a Christmas movie for everyone. With easy access to streaming services, like Netflix and Stan, and the many other ways to have instant access to all the Christmas movies that your heart desires, you can turn any day (or night) into a Christmas movie memory maker.

Make Christmas Movie Memories

It’s not just about simply watching a Christmas movie (although there is definitely nothing wrong with that). In order to really create some special Christmas memories that involve movies, think about using the opportunity to turn the seemingly basic activity of watching a movie into a much-treasured family Christmas activity.

No doubt you already have some Christmas traditions and activities that you enjoy each year. Consider incorporating Christmas movies as part of the regular agenda.

Make a Day of It

Make a day or weekend event of it and dedicate some time to setting up the tree, decorating, baking or whatever else you usually do and then sit down and enjoy a festive movie together at the end of a very productive day. Your Christmas memories day might also include a drive to check out the Christmas light displays in your local neighbourhood.

Movie Madness

The holiday period is a popular time for movie-makers. Hit the cinemas to watch the newest Christmas flick or two. Order popcorn and snacks, and really make a day of it.

Home, but Not Alone

Throughout the busy month of December, take some scheduled time out from all the craziness and allocate a night a week to relax with your favourite snacks and watch a movie or two.

Make a special event of it by inviting those closest to you to share the good times. Set up comfy chairs and cushions so everyone can really relax and enjoy themselves or even ask everyone to bring their own seating of choice. You could also ask everyone to bring heir favourite movie-munching treat to share. Mmmmm!

If there are a few favourite movies amongst the group, you could have some friendly competitions about who can say the next line before it happens and other movie trivia along the way.

Christmas Charades

Celebrate Christmas and have some fun by turning your favourite Christmas movies into a game with a session of Christmas-themed charades. Act out a scene or mimic a character from one of the many popular Christmas movies and have your friends and family try to guess who you are or what you’re doing. The added twist is sure to make for lots of festive laughs and good times.

Christmas Cheer from your Couch

Perhaps you don’t have access to the latest movie technology (or maybe you don’t currently have any old movie technology either!) but that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on making Christmas memories in front of the television.

A popular Australian tradition is spending Christmas Eve gathered around the TV to watch Carols in the Domain. It’s such a lovely way to spend the evening enjoying some beautiful Christmas music and also relaxing before the excitement of the following day. But you don’t have to wait until Christmas Eve to join in on the fun. Throughout December, there are many Christmas movies for people of all ages aired on free TV so be sure to check out your local programming schedule and make a date with your couch and whoever else you’d like to invite along.

Now that you’ve got some ideas about how and when to watch your Christmas movies, check out the list of our favourite Christmas movies to help you decide which Christmas movie you are going to watch.

At The Christmas Cart, we love celebrating the festive season and making beautiful memories in as many different ways as possible. Any chance to spend quality time together with family and loved ones is a winner in our books, especially if there is popcorn and movies involved!
