Just like Santa goes to his sleigh, you can’t have a perfectly decorated Christmas tree without Christmas baubles. But when it comes to decorating for the festive season, there is so much more to the rounded Christmas décor delights than leaving them merely hanging around (pun intended!). And the kind of baubles where the Christmas decorating fun gets real are craft baubles!

In this article, we will bring you some amazing ideas that demonstrate how easy it is to decorate with craft baubles. So, sit back and soak up the festively fun Christmas inspiration that we have coming your way.

Decorate with craft baubles – for matching décor and theme

Decorating with craft baubles is one of the simplest ways to create unique pieces that co-ordinate beautifully with the rest of your Christmas décor. Whatever Christmas decorating theme you are channelling; it is easy to incorporate some festive Christmas baubles by undertaking a bit of Christmas craft and DIY. Take a look at some of the following ideas to help get your creative juices flowing.

Glue and Stick

One of the simplest ways to use and decorate with craft baubles is to simply glue some embellishments onto the outside of craft baubles to match your Christmas theme. When decorating with craft baubles for a pastel theme, you could use some pearls or gently-coloured beads for example. For a seaside or coastal Christmas theme, you could glue sand, miniature-sized shells or a single starfish to the outside. And if you were using our Pretty Little Christmas theme as inspiration, pink and blue glitter or paint would work perfectly for that.

Drop and Load

As an alternative to the glue and stick method, style your craft baubles from the inside instead by dropping a few special pieces inside the craft baubles instead. Christmas scatters, glitter, feathers and Christmas berries inside to decorate with craft baubles can look great. Finish these off with a beautiful Christmas bow, burlap or ribbon on top to match your theme perfectly.

To create plenty if texture and interest when decorating with your craft baubles, mix things up by using a combination of baubles types and styles. Include some with pieces glued on the outside and some decorated on the inside.

Restore or Revamp

You can also decorate with craft baubles of the pre-loved kind by adopting the methods above to transform an old existing model into something brand new. Give it a facelift to coincide with your new Christmas theme. Or bring life back to those old baubles which might be scratched, faded or dinted – no problem at all!

Paint and nail polish (believe it or not) are great for re-styling Christmas baubles. Here are two methods you could try.

1.      Paint on the Inside

Simply put some paint inside the craft bauble, swirl it around a little to create an interesting effect and let it dry. You could also try a marble effect with different colours if you are feeling really creative.

2.      Nail Polish Marble Coating

Add a few generous drops of different coloured nail polish into a dish of water (the polish will float). When you have all of your colours in the water, dip the Christmas bauble in to coat it as much as you like, then pull it straight up and out. Set it aside to dry. The result is a Christmas bauble with a lovely marbled effect in whatever colours you choose.

Decorate with Craft Baubles – for the Memories

Craft baubles provide a unique way to capture memories that can be displayed at Christmas time. Here are a few great ideas on how to decorate with craft baubles that can introduce special meaning for you too.

Christmas Bauble Memory Keeper

Create a Christmas memory keeper by placing items inside your Christmas baubles that remind you of someone or somewhere special. You could use flowers from a bouquet, a snippet of lace or ribbon from a dress, doll or treasured piece of clothing. Sand and shells from a holiday destination are also popular inclusions for this idea.

You could add a festive photo, kid’s drawings, special trinkets, or a special message to them too.

Decorating with craft baubles this way is like adding little time capsules to your home each Christmas. You can add these baubles to the tree or display them in a dedicated place in your home. What a great way to honour someone special in your life. And what a great gift idea for a friend or family member too.
