Christmas in July in Australia is cold, it is actually the closest we get to a white Christmas. It certainly doesn’t get as cold as does in other parts of the world where Christmas is held in freezing snowy conditions, but it is our winter. So it is a really good time for all of us down under to enjoy the lovely rich roast meats, puddings and custards that are traditional of a European or Northern Hemisphere Christmas. And the same can be said for drinks.
I love seeing on Pinterest and YouTube the beautiful hot chocolate, or hot Cocoa Bars as they are commonly referred to, but that isn’t what my palette is looking for in the middle of our summer. At that time of the year I am definitely after lighter, fruitier drinks.
And so this year, to indulge my winter beverage palette and to really take advantage of the cold winter nights and my Christmas in July decorating, I created a hot chocolate bar for all my family and friends to enjoy.
