Santa Snacks for Christmas Eve

santa snacksLeaving out milk and cookies for Santa is an age old tradition but if you’re feeling more adventurous this year why not branch out and leave Santa something a little different. We’ve put our heads together and come up with five new – but still delicious – snacks for Santa!

  1. Cheese platter. Santa works hard on Christmas Eve, so why not leave him something a bit special. Three of your favourite cheeses, a handful of crackers and a few olives are sure to delight Santa when he stops by.
  2. Chips and dips. Another great savoury snack is dip! Pick up a couple of your favourites and let the children decide which one Santa will like best. Again crackers are a good choice of accompaniment, but you can also use carrot, celery or capsicum sticks – and Santa can share these with the reindeer!
  3. Santa’s sure to be hungry after a long night delivering presents, so why not leave him something substantial, to help get his strength back? Everyone can make a mini-sandwich with their favourite ingredients, or you can agree on the best fillings together and just leave Santa one big, delicious midnight meal.
  4. Fruit salad. If you think Santa might want something sweet but a bit healthier than the traditional cookies then fruit is perfect! Chop up a few different kinds of seasonal fruit and place in a bowl, add in a few berries and set out with some honey and Greek yoghurt.
  5. Mince pies. Similar to cookies but a bit more grown up, mince pies are an ideal festive treat for Santa if you think he deserves a little naughty treat. Give him a beer or a nip of whiskey to wash it down with and you’ll definitely be on his ‘nice’ list!
