WELCOME TO OUR BLOG - THE PLACE TO BE INSPIRED TO CREATE, DECORATE & CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS!

Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose this Christmas in July!

July is the perfect time to pull out all of your messy Christmas decoration boxes and sort them out.  If storage space is any issue for you, why not reduce it by sorting out which ones to keep and which to donate to a local op shop. Getting the kids to help is a great way to reinforce to children that giving to the less fortunate is a big part of the Christmas spirit, even in July!.

Alternatively, you can reuse your old decorations and dress up some everyday objects to use as decorations this Christmas in July. Place Christmas baubles of various sizes and colours (or different shades of the same colour) into a large jar and tie a colourful or festive ribbon around it for a great table centerpiece. Not limited to just a table centerpiece, this will also work nicely on a window sill, hall table or the coffee table.

Amuse the kids these school holidays with old wrapping paper cutoffs or pieces in odd shapes – let the children be creative and make decorative Christmas loops to use at your Christmas in July event. Or let the kids paper mache old Christmas baubles and jars for a unique Christmas decoration. It’s amazing what a little glue, paper ribbon and a bit of creativity can do!

For your Christmas in July event, you can ask your guests to bring old, but still useable decorations to your event to spread a little Christmas cheers around – these can then be swapped with other people so each person leaves with a ‘new’ decoration.

If you have broken Christmas lights they can be upcycled into festive ornaments! Just safely remove the light bulbs, clean them as required, coat with a generous amount of craft glue and dust it with either glitter or cover with Christmas wrapping paper cutoffs. The wire could be cut up and used as plant ties in the spring.

Recycle your old Christmas cards as Christmas Card Gifts tags – the best part is that you can save them for later in the year! It’s a great way to not to waste beautiful pictures and create eye-catching Christmas gift tags for friends and loved ones. Simply trace a gift tag over the desired section of the Christmas card and cut out. If there is writing on the other side, cover it with blank scrap paper.

Create your own Christmas wrapping paper using blank scrap paper, cutouts from your old Christmas cards and some glue. Lay the cutouts as desired and glue them in place. This is an easy and fun Christmas craft that kids will enjoy!
