Decorating Every Room at Christmas

decorate your homeWhile the living room is usually the main event when it comes to Christmas decorating, that doesn’t mean the rest of your rooms don’t deserve some festive cheer as well! Turn your whole home into a winter wonderland by putting up some simple decorations in each part of the house.

Doors and entranceways: Most families place a Christmas wreath on the front door, but what about the other doorways throughout the house? Turn each entrance into a seasonal work of art. Doors can be turned into giant presents by taping thick pieces of red and green ribbon in a cross shape and finished with a bow. Kids can create a friendly snowman on their own doors for the silly season – just use black felt circles for the eyes, mouth and buttons, a triangle of orange cardboard for the nose, and some striped ribbon or paper for a scarf! Add some seasonal sparkle to open entranceways by stringing garlands of lights or tinsel around the outside and fastening in place with small tacks or pins.

Bathrooms and laundries: These rooms often get overlooked at Christmas, but they are so easy to spruce up! Place tea light candles in Christmas themed candle holders around your bath or basins. Use the bathroom mirror to full effect – the reflection means when you place ornaments along the bottom of the mirror you’ve immediately doubled your decorations! Invest in a Christmas-themed hand towels to bring out when you have guests around, and you can even decorate the windows with cut out snowflakes if you want to go all out!

Kitchen and dining room: You’re going to be spending a lot of time in the kitchen cooking, and in the dining room feasting, so they should be given the festive treatment too! Fill unused glass bowls and vases with baubles, pinecones and fairy lights, or place branches and berries in a tall vase and tie a ribbon around the outside. You can also make use of any empty wine or water bottles you might have. Thread some indoor lights into the bottle before sprucing up the outside with bows or garlands for simple but stunning kitchen decorations.
