Keep it classic with a wreath. But, touch it up with a rustic feel. Rustic decorating is on trend at the moment due to its classic colour palette, with an earthy tone and rusty metal highlights. This combination creates a warm and welcoming vibe for visitors. Follow our DIY Rustic Wreath post to create this look.

Christmas plaques are a beautiful way to personalise your front door with your family name and a festive greeting. Adding sprays, florals and picks really help to complete the look.

For a truly magical touch, add some battery powered fairy lights!  Another sweet idea for a more contemporary look is to use plants you already have at home, or some large branches in pots, and decorate these with fairy lights and a few ornaments.

Draw attention to your front door by having two plants on either side – and what better plant during this season than Christmas trees

Outdoor décor brings the homey feel outside. An easy way to achieve this look is to decorate with lanterns. Place a few various sized lanterns outside, place baubles inside the lantern – even fairy lights if you want them to shine at night – and decorate the handle with berries, ribbon and greenery. Voila! The perfect Christmas decoration.

Decorate your doormat

For those looking for a bit more of a challenge this Christmas, why not have a go at decorating a doormat!

What You’ll Need

  • A coir door mat you can pick these up at your local hardware or discount store
  • Paint brush
  • Fabric paint
  • Hobby knife
  • Masking tape
  • Cutting mat
  • A print out of words and images you’d like to stencil – easily available with a search on the web.

Lay the print outs on the cutting mat, and carefully slice out the design using a hobby knife in order to create a stencil. Place on the door mat and tape the edges with masking tape. Paint over the stencil. If you wish to use different colours for different parts of the design, be sure to let the first layer fully dry before adding a second colour. Remove the paper stencil and allow to dry.

Deck the halls, mantels and door frames with festive cheer!

Cover the frame of your front door with a luscious Christmas garland. and add a touch of luxury to your front porch. Simply place removable hooks around the edges of your door frame that your garlands can be secured on. Why not add some fairy lights, baubles and ribbons to the garland to tie in with your indoor Christmas decor theme?

Place a Christmas cushion on a chair next to the front door. Adds a pop of colour and brings some instant Christmas cheer.
