Christmas Tree Alternatives

Alternative Different Christmas Trees - The Christmas Cart

If you are cringing at the idea of dragging the dusty old Christmas tree out for Christmas in July this year, don’t – we have you covered! Here are some simple, fresh, inexpensive, and less space consuming, Christmas tree alternatives for you to use this year.

The Nature Lover

Gather some nice looking twigs that branch out and are about 1m long. Using spray paint, spray them – gold and silver work best (which colour you use depends on your house’s colour scheme). Place these together in a vase, and then hang a few personalised baubles with the same colour theme from the ends; we like silver branches with light-blue baubles for a winter wonderland look, and gold branches with red and green baubles for a more traditional feel. Not only is this a fresh and trendy idea, but you can recycle it when you’re done!

The Minimalist

Lacking in space? Then look no further than a single bare wall! Gather a string of Christmas lights, hang them on the wall in the shape of a Christmas tree, then create a star shaped wall motif (one that easily peels off after) and stick it to the wall at the top. To create the tree shape, you can go back and forth in a zigzag motion and slowly get bigger, or you can simply create an outline of a tree – whatever matches your personal Christmas in July style!

The Easy-going Way

If you have a little table top Christmas tree, then you can always just use that. It’s cute, creates the Christmas cheer, and, most importantly, it’s extremely easy to take out and then pack away again once you are done!

The Book Worm

If you love books and have piles upon piles of them, then this is the tree for you – a book tree! To do this, start by making a large circle of books on the ground (with books in the middle too so the tree won’t cave in). Slowly stack the books higher and higher, each time making the circle a little smaller. Once you’re left with one book on the top you have created your tree. Place a star on top, or do as our Christmas elves like to do and place a pinecone on top for a rustic feel.

The Creative Spark

For those with a creative spark and a touch of handy-man in them, make your own tree out of wood! Simply get one long plank of wood, then ten more planks of wood that increase in size. Nail the smallest plank of wood to the top, and then continue to nail them down the long plank in order of size; don’t forget to leave a decent bit of space at the bottom to be the ‘trunk’ of the tree. Once you are done you can decorate this in any way you please – keep the wood bare and hang green decorations from it for a natural feel, paint it any colour to suit your house, put Christmas lights on it, or even get the kids to paint it and let their creative juices fly! This tree can be put against a wall inside, or even stuck in the ground to bring the Christmas cheer outdoors.
