Christmas in July: Let the festivities begin!

Christmas Work Party

Having a theme for your party makes it that extra bit special, it’s more fun for you and your guests. The kid inside us loves to dress up, let our hair down and let loose! Christmas in July is a great opportunity to host a fundraiser and to give back to the community.

Dress up parties allow you and your guests to have fun and get creative. Some popular themes include:

White Winter Wonderland
This theme is always classy, in style, and is easy for guests to dress up without the added pressure of shopping for a new outfit. Decorations are simple and classy with our range of Glass baubles in Icicle, Iridescent, Rainbow and White Feather are complimented nicely with silver tinsel, white streamers and mirrored objects that are easily found around the home.

Ugly Christmas Jumper Competition
We all have that one ugly jumper in the back of the wardrobe that we would much rather never see the light of day. This theme allows you and your guests to showcase these hideous crimes against fashion, have fun and win prizes!

Op-shops are the go if you don’t have an ugly jumper. Anything from the early 80’s will probably work, as long as it’s hideous by today’s standards.

This theme works well at many functions, most particularly Christmas movie nights with the children!

Bonus tip: play some cheesy old Christmas songs to set the daggy atmosphere.

Nightmare before Christmas
Let your imagination run wild and take inspiration from this classic movie and create a slightly creepy, offbeat Christmas party theme. Guests can come dressed as any of the characters from the film, or just in gothic style costumes.

Go the extra step further and use make-up to fully embrace the theme. Some fun videos we found on YouTube are:
•  Sally – Nightmare before Christmas
•  Jack Skellington – Nightmare before Christmas
•  Tim Burton Nightmare before Christmas

Decorations wise, our Black and White Glass baubles are perfect for this theme to really accentuate the gothic feel of the movie.

Christmas Candy Land
You can make your own candy buffet in decorative and differently shaped glass jars found in craft stores and discount shops. Fill the jars up with a variety of lollies and ask guests to come dressed in a confectionery themed costume.

Arrange some Christmas snowglobes and Christmas bonbons and sprinkle glitter around the jars to add a little glamour and fill the gaps, or place some brightly coloured shatterproof baubles in clusters for added effect.

Christmas in July is a great opportunity to host a fundraiser to support you sports, community, club, work or charity. Also, depending on your type of event, you can ask guests to bring canned food or a gift to donate to a local shelter for those less fortunate.

Regardless of your event, having a theme for your Christmas in July party is always that extra bit more fun and exciting!

Trivia nights are always fun for everyone, but you can up the ante by incorporating a theme or dress-up with prizes for the best costume. Decorate a jar festively so guests are able to drop a donation upon arrival.
