Christmas Crafts that Glitter and Sparkle

Silver Frost Christmas Plywood Craft Star Tray Set of 3 with Silver Velour Poinsettia Candle Wreath

It’s true that Christmastime is even more magical when there is a sprinkle and sparkle of glitter in the air! We’ve collected some of our favourite Christmas glitter craft ideas that will help keep the family entertained and your home filled with magic and sparkle.

Of all the different craft options available, I can’t help but be drawn to glitter Christmas craft at this time of the year. It’s undeniable that glitter effortlessly adds plenty of festive magic with every sprinkle.

Glitter Christmas craft is as exciting for the kids as it is therapeutic (ok, and exciting!) for me. Expressive, imaginative, creative, and totally festive – that’s what glitter Christmas craft is all about.

Whether entertaining the kids or getting a healthy dose of crafting in for yourself, here are some of my favourite glitter Christmas craft ideas.

Christmas Glitter Craft – Décor ideas

#1 Glitter vases

Glitter vases are a gorgeous Christmas glitter craft idea that transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. You can upcycle an old piece or add some sparkle to a new model.

With some glue, a vase and a vial of your favourite coloured glitter, you can make some beautiful glitter vases to use as part of the Christmas décor around the home. Add some bows or ribbons for extra styling or leave them plain and let the glitter take centre stage. You can also set your vase or jar on top of a candle wreath for even more festive impact. Whatever way you choose to do it, this is a quick and extremely easy Christmas glitter craft idea that makes a lovely statement.

For a similarly sparkly look without using glitter, you can use flat glass stones to stick to the outside of your vases and jars too. With a candle or mini light inside, these vases and jars spread their sparkle throughout the entire room and look absolutely stunning. If you’d like to channel a truly festive feel, you can fill a vase with artificial snow, cute animals, table top trees, florals or an assortment of baubles.

#2 Christmas Glitter Craft Baubles

We all have a collection of Christmas baubles that we no longer attach to our Christmas tree – whether they’re scratched or perhaps just don’t work with our newest design style. Instead of disposing of them, these baubles are perfect to repurpose and turn into sparkly Christmas glitter craft decorations. Simply lather the outside of a bauble with glue, such as Mod Podge, sprinkle plenty of glitter and let them dry. For an utterly unique addition, you can add lettering or festive decals to create a Christmas glitter craft message.

Another great glitter craft idea is to fill craft baubles with glittery or metallic decorations, such as bells, or a mixture of glitter colours.

#3 Mason Jar Lid Ornaments

Upcycle your used mason jar lids into Christmas glitter craft ornaments. This is an activity that the kids will absolutely love!

After giving it a good clean, paint the inside of your jar lid with some clear-drying glue (again, Mod Podge is great for this). Add some beads, Christmas scatters, pom poms or anything else colourful and festive. Then, when your pieces are all glued and in place, add a generous sprinkle of glitter (of course!). Shake off the excess glitter and let them dry.

Once dried, fix a ribbon the top to make a loop, then hang the ornaments on your Christmas tree.

#4 Snowflake Window Clings

These snowflake clings remind me of those sticky toys that tumble down the wall. Instead, these little Christmas glitter craft flakes of magic are made to stick around and embellish your windows with glitter sparkle.

Using some puff paint, trace out a snowflake shape onto a piece of plastic (snap lock bags work great). Add some glitter and shake off the excess. Once dried, just peel the painted creation off the plastic and stick them to the window, or any other smooth surface that you like – your fridge, mirrors or even the dishwasher front can all have their own snowflakes.
