Drinks all round!

When hosting Christmas lunch or dinner, it can get a bit hard to come up with new and creative ways to serve food and beverages. Here are some really cool ideas for serving drinks suitable for the adults and the kids.

For the Adults

The Cranberry-Pineapple Cooler is the perfect drink for a hot Christmas day. You will need ½ cup of sugar and water, 1 cup of cranberry juice, orange juice and pineapple juice, ¾ cup of lemon juice and a 2L bottle of ginger ale. Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan to create a syrup, then chill for an hour. In a large punch bowl, stir together the cranberry juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice and chilled syrup. Slowly pour ginger ale down side of bowl, stir gently to mix. Serve with ice cubes, cranberries and lemon slices.

Another refreshing drink is the Pear Sparkler. This drink is easy to make, all you need is 6 tablespoons of pear nectar, 1 tablespoon of rosemary syrup and ¼ of a cup of chilled ginger ale. First you fill a tall narrow glass with ice, then add the pear nectar and rosemary syrup. Slowly add ginger ale and gently stir to combine. Serve with rosemary and a straw.

Here’s a margarita with an icy twist. You will need ½ a cup of frozen cranberry-raspberry juice concentrate, thawed, ½ cup of tequila, ¼ cup of orange liqueur, 3 tablespoons of melon liqueur and 5 cups of ice cubes. Combine the juice concentrate, tequila, orange liqueur and melon liqueur on a blender. With the blender running, add ice cubes one at a time through the opening in the lid, keep blending until slushy. If desired dip the rims of the glasses in corn syrup     and then into decorating sugar. Pour blended mixture into glasses and enjoy!

For the Kids

The Grinch Punch is a great drink for the kids. All you have to do is combine Sprite with lime sherbet, and add green sprinkles and sugar around the rim. This would be fun to serve while watching the Grinch!

Another wonderful drink for the kids is the North Pole Strawberry Smoothie. For this drink you will need frozen strawberries, water, frozen vanilla yogurt, plain vanilla yogurt, finely crushed candy cane and green decorating gel. Blend the strawberries and water until smooth. Clean blender and place the frozen yogurt and non-frozen yogurt in the blender and blend until smooth. Use the decorating gel to stick the crushed candy cane around the rim of the glass. Then pour the strawberry and yogurt blends into the glass at the same time to create a half red half white design, and they are ready to serve!

Chocolate Milk Snowmen are a unique and simple way to serve chocolate milk. You will need glass bottles, Christmas straws, some material and buttons and chocolate milk. Cut small rectangles of fabric long enough to tie around the neck of the bottle as a scarf. Using a hot glue gun secure the scarves in place and also glue three buttons down the front of each bottle. Then fill with chocolate milk and serve!
