Funny Christmas Stories and Jokes - Funny Christmas Stories and Jokes

Come Christmas time there always seems to be plenty of fun stories and jokes to share. Often it’s hard to tell whether or not they might actually be true. Not that it’s too important, as the saying goes “you should never let the truth get in the way of a good story!” Maybe it’s an unusual tradition or perhaps a story or joke for a bit of humour. Here’s a few of our favourites that we have gathered to get you into the Christmas spirit. Feel free to share them around this Christmas!

The Christmas Pickle

The Christmas Pickle is an old German tradition whereby a blown green glass pickle is the last ornament hung on the tree. The first child who can find this pickle on Christmas morning is rewarded with an extra present. So, from the late 19th century these pickles, imported from Germany, were a popular buy in American stores. However, tracing the origins of the story, proves that many Germans are not even aware of this practice and the whole thing is an invented myth!

The Christmas Log

Every year on the 8th of December (the date of Mother Mary’s Immaculate Conception), children in the Catalan region of Spain bring home a log for the kitchen table. They give it a smile, some stick legs, dress him up in a red hat and give him a blanket for warmth. He’s known as Tio de Nadal. The following 16 days leading up to Christmas Eve, they feed him nuts, dried fruit and water. Finally on Christmas Eve they sing him a song while slowly beating him with a stick. As he’s being hit, he releases his goodies. The children take away his blanket and will find a pile of candies and presents.

Night Of The Radishes

On the 23rd of December every year, thousands of people in the city of Oaxaca, Mexico, gather in the main plaza to see the grand radish exhibition. Mexicans compete by carving oversized radishes to create different scenes and display them in the Christmas market. Popoular scenes usually include Nativity scenes, biblical representation and Oaxacan history.

The Four Stages Of Life

Your relationship with Santa Claus, exists in four stages:

  1. You believe in the Santa, the fat jolly man who comes down the chimney to deliver your presents.
  2. You grow up and stop believing in Santa.
  3. You have children and now you are Santa.
  4. You age and finally you look like Santa!

Christmas Jokes

We are not going to make any claims about whether these are “good jokes” or not. We can’t promise that they are even a little bit funny. We’ll let you judge that for yourselves. But go ahead and have a read, you might just find a little Christmas chuckle in there somewhere!

  1. Why should you never mess with Santa? Because he has a black belt.
  2. How is the alphabet different on Christmas Day? On Christmas Day, the alphabet has No-el.
  3. What do you call people who are afraid of Santa? Claustrophobic.
  4. What do you call an elf that sings? A wrapper!
  5. What does Santa Claus do when his elves misbehave? He gives them the sack.
  6. Why did no one bid for Rudolph and Blitzen on eBay? Because they were two deer.

Hahaha! Hohoho! Merry Christmas!!
