Getting read for christmas - 5 Things you can do now to get ready for christmas

It’s never too early to start planning for Christmas. While the festive season is a lot of fun, it is also bound to get busy if you aren’t prepared for it. Here are 5 things you can do now to get ready for Christmas.

  1. Decide what type of Christmas you want this year
As a family, think about what you are going to do this year to celebrate the festive season and have a memorable Christmas. You might want to spend Christmas overseas on a holiday or visit some family who live far away. This will help you make decisions about every other element of Christmas as you prepare.
  1. Make a Christmas planner
This can be a wall calendar, a spreadsheet, or a checklist – whatever works for you. Write out everything you think you’ll need to buy, cook, and wrap, as well as concerts, lunches and dinners you’ll be attending. Add them all to your timeline and colour-code so you can see at a glance what’s most urgent.
  1. Make an Activity Calendar
Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year and you can often accidentally double book for events. Add your Christmas activities to a calendar as you find out when school events, parties, dinners, Christmas carols, Santa photo visits and other special festive events.
  1. Set a Christmas Budget
This can be overall for gifts, decorating and food. Just make sure you stick to it! When you get caught up in the spirit of Christmas and start enjoying the experience of choosing gifts for your loved ones, it can be easy to go overboard. You’ll thank yourself later if you have a budget set early on.
  1. Look out for Sales
If you think about what type of gifts or decorations you are going to buy at Christmas, if you see a sale on any particular item or a coupon code for an online store, there is no harm in purchasing things in advance to save you money and time in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
