Decorating with Christmas Wreaths

During the Christmas season you often see wreaths gracing the front door of beautifully decorated homes. A Christmas wreath on the front door is a warm and joyous way of saying “Welcome to Our Home.”

Christmas wreaths also look beautiful when decorated throughout your home. It is a simple and elegant way to decorate the room for Christmas. And it’s always lovely to have one on the inside of your front door when guests leave your home, a lovely way to wish them a Merry Christmas when leaving your home.

Decorating Stairwells

If your home has a staircase with a railing, it is a wonderful way to incorporate the Christmas theme throughout your home. Here are some ideas for great stairway decorations.

Hanging Christmas Wreaths

Attach a wreath at intervals up the stairs, tied with holiday decorative ribbons. If you like, you can link them together with ribbons.

Swag of Netting

Measure the length of the stairway and determine how much drop you want in the swag. Purchase netting, tied at intervals along the railing, and decorate with clusters of fresh or artificial greens, flowers, ornaments or bows. You can even install a length of inflammable Christmas lights inside the netting for added effect.

Ribbon Garland

Attach the ribbons at attractive intervals to the railing and add a bow or cluster of ornaments or flowers and greens at each top point.

Christmas Garlands

It's possible to make a garland out of many materials, including pine, ivy, pine cones, and decorative garlands. Add holiday touches with metallic berries or Christmas ornaments, shimmering satin or velvet ribbons, garlands of flowers.

Fruit and Flower Clusters

Gather together stems of beaded fruit or flowers and tie together with pine and ribbons. Tie each cluster to the banister with decorative ribbons, spaced evenly on the banister.
