Tips for the Perfect Christmas Party

Group of friends wearing a photoshoot signs - Tips for the Perfect Christmas Party

Hosting a Christmas event can be incredibly stressful – but it’s important to take a step back and remember that it’s all ultimately meant to be about creating a fun experience for everyone – including you! Get some inspiration from these great ideas on how to throw a fun silly-season festivity this Christmas.

Pre-plan a Christmas Playlist

Some fun, lively tunes are essential to creating a party vibe. Check out our tips for the perfect Christmas playlist, no matter what genre, here. Or grab a few CDs to have in reach.

Christmas Karaoke

Perhaps there’s a secret Mariah Carey or Michael Buble among your friends? There are many karaoke game add-ons for most game consoles, or hire a microphone from your local party store and get those tunes cranking!

Set up a Christmas-themed Photo Booth

Making your own photobooth is much simpler than it may seems. Simply throw up a sheet, grab some bunting, raid the dress up box, and even make your own Santa’s beards and ‘Ho Ho Ho signs’.

Dress-up theme: Crazy Headwear

Dress-up themes are a great way to loosen everyone’s inhibitions and social expectations, but sometimes ones that require too much planning can deter people (especially if they have to visit multiple parties in a day). Choosing a simple theme like Crazy Headwear is a great conversation starter!

Be well-stocked for food and drinks

Food and drink are crucial social lubricants, so make sure to be well stocked before your party begins. Go the extra mile to get your guests involved by creating a Christmas Cocktail Station!

Prepare your food in advance as much as possible allowing you to relax and enjoy the night.

Angry Secret Santa

We all know the classic secret Santa game – but here’s a fun twist. Have everyone bring a gift up to a certain value, and place it under the tree when they arrive. Have guests put their name in a Santa hat, and as each name is pulled out, they pick a gift from under the tree. But – there’s a twist. If one of your guests happens to prefer a previously opened gift, they can be ‘angry Santa’, and steal it, swapping it for what they just opened!
